For this module you will need to select another text, not a film, that also has something to say about society.
You may use a poem, song lyrics, a novel, a newspaper article or feature article that conveys ideas about society through its characters and events. You need to be able to relate this text to the ideas of Forrest Gump and discuss both texts in an essay.
I would like you to start researching this and post an entry telling me what text you are considering and why you have chosen it. Include what type of text it is as well as the title and an overview.

FILM SOUNDTRACK
Look at the soundtrack sheet for the film. There is a wide range of artists including Anglo-Saxon, Afro-American, soloists and groups. The music was a mixture of rock'roll, pop, ballads and protest songs. How is the choice of music reflective of the ideas and feelings of the American people at the time (represented by Forrest and his adventures). Refer to specific titles and what you think they are suggesting. Even if you do not know the song you should be able to decipher some meaning from its title.

Viewing opinions

Now that you have all viewed the film at least once, it is time to let me know what you thought of it.
I would like you to make an entry that explains what elements of the film you enjoyed and why - was it the characters? Was it the storyline or the way it was revealed? Was it the music?
Please make specific references to scenes or events.
